Bhubaneswar: A meeting was held between the members of the Odisha State Kendu Leaf Organisation and Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo at the Assembly today.
The organisation presented their demands and problems, primarily focusing on increasing the income of kendu leaf pluckers, given the favourable weather conditions this year that have resulted in a good quality harvest.
Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo assured the union that their demands and problems have been sympathetically accepted. He further stated that the demands will be presented to the Chief Minister, and a solution will be devised soon.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Forests, Environment and Climate Change Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Additional Chief Secretary Satyabrat Sahu, and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Devadatta, who provided valuable suggestions.
