Woman Sets Herself, Infant On Fire Over Family Dispute In Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a woman, driven by family disputes, set herself and her two-month-old infant on fire pouring kerosene at Atoda village near Salipur under Jagatpur police station in Cuttack district.

The mother and child were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack in a critical, but unfortunately, the infant succumbed to burns at the hospital, while the mother passed away at a private hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman had locked herself and her baby in the house before setting themselves ablaze. Locals rescued them and admitted them to the hospital.

The police intervened, breaking down the door to rescue the mother and daughter, and are currently investigating the incident.
