Deogarh: The carcass of a leopard was discovered floating in the Rengali Dam near Kanthimal village in the Nuadihi section of the Reamal forest range on Thursday.
According to reports, the discovery was made by local fishermen who spotted the carcass while fishing in the dam. They promptly informed the Forest Department about the incident.
Deogarh Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Magar Dhanaji Raoso, along with senior officials from the Forest Department, visited the site to assess the situation. Efforts are currently underway to retrieve the carcass and bring it ashore for further examination.
The exact cause of the leopard’s death will be determined after a thorough autopsy. Forest officials have assured that necessary action will be taken following the findings.
