Bhubaneswar: A delegation of 27 media representatives from countries including Fiji, Indonesia, Israel, Kenya, and Malaysia attended a meeting at Kharvel Bhawan as part of a two-day tour under the 79th “Know India Program” (KIP).
The delegation, coordinated by the Ministry of External Affairs and Odisha’s Home Department, was briefed on the preparations for the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD), which is set to take place in Bhubaneswar from January 8 to 10, 2024.
The meeting, chaired by Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, provided an overview of the state’s cultural heritage, industrial progress, and tourism potential.
Discussions also highlighted Odisha’s efforts to involve the overseas Indian community in achieving the vision of a developed Odisha by 2036 and a developed India by 2047.
Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department Satyabrat Sahu presented the event schedule, which includes cultural festivals like the Rajarani Music Festival, Mukteswar Dance Festival, and Adivasi Mela.
The media representatives visited prominent sites, including Mukteswar Temple, Dhauli Shanti Stupa, and Boyanika, to experience Odisha’s cultural richness.
The tour also featured a visit to the World Skill Center, where the delegation lauded Odisha’s strides in skill development and employment generation.
The Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of such international engagement in promoting Odisha’s initiatives and expressed hope that the delegation would enhance global awareness about the state.
Preparations are underway to host international participants at PBD, with special sightseeing tours planned to showcase key locations like the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Konark’s Sun Temple, and Chilika Lake. Odisha’s beaches, sanctuaries, and handicrafts will also be highlighted during the event.
The media delegation appreciated Odisha’s developmental efforts and infrastructure improvements, particularly in skill development and tourism.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Development Commissioner Anu Garg and representatives from various departments. The delegation is scheduled to visit Kalinga Stadium tomorrow to witness Odisha’s sports facilities.
