Bhubaneswar: A 61-year-old woman was killed while her son and daughter-in-law sustained serious injuries after a container truck rammed into their road-side house at Turnga chhak under Town police station in Bargarh on Sunday night.
The deceased, identified as Ambuika Tandi, was asleep while the accident occurred. Her injured son and daughter-in-law have been admitted to district headquarters hospital.
The incident took place when the container truck, traveling from Raipur to Bargarh, lost control and crashed into Tandi’s asbestos house, destroying it entirely.
The locals reacted with outrage and blocked the Sohela-Chhattisgarh road, demanding compensation for the victim’s family and action against vehicle driver. However, administrative intervention helped resolve the situation, and the blockade was lifted. Police have seized the container after registering a case, and launched an investigation into the incident.
This tragic event highlights the need for enhanced road safety measures and stricter regulations for cargo transportation. The community mourns the loss of Ambika Tandi, while prayers are with the injured family members.
