Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) plans to construct a six-lane ramp facility at Puri Srimandir to ensure hassle-free darshan of the Holy Trinity by senior citizens and differently-abled devotees.
Announcing this on Thursday, the SJTA said that details about the proposed facility were discussed at a meeting between the Temple officials and the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation (OBCC) authorities.
SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee recently reviewed the proposed darshan facilities at the Srimandir’s Nata Mandap based on the recommendations of the Management Committee and the Chhatisha Nijog.
According to reports, the SJTA has urged the OBCC to complete the project at the earliest in consultation with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the technical committee of Jagannath temple.
The OBCC has been tasked with the temple heritage corridor project which includes the making of a corridor of 75 metres width around the Meghanada Pacheri of the Jagannath Temple, a multi-level car parking facility linked to NH via Shree Setu, improved access to the Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre with a 2.3 km 4-lane road bridge, a welcome gate, and viewpoints, among other projects.
