Rourkela: Police arrested two individuals on charges of illegal arms possession in Rourkela city on Monday and subsequently forwarded them to court.
Acting on a tip-off, a special police team detained the suspects near Hanuman Temple in Sector 4 locality on Sunday. The accused were identified as Vicky Choudhary and Sumit Ranjan Rout.
During the operation, authorities seized an improvised crude gun, one live bullet, three mobile phones, and a car from their possession.
Police have launched a detailed investigation to identify potential accomplices and trace the source of the illegal arms. They are also probing whether an organized syndicate is involved in supplying weapons in Rourkela and its surrounding areas.
Additionally, investigators are exploring a possible Maoist connection, given the region’s history of such activities. Efforts are ongoing to uncover further leads in the case.
