Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court in Dhenkanal has sentenced former Amin of Dhenkanal Sadar Tahasil, Subhrajeet Sahoo, to three years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with a bribery case.
Sahoo, who is currently posted as Amin in Gondia Tahasil, was also fined Rs 50,000.
According to an official press release, Sahoo was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
The charges relate to a 2019 case in which he was accused of demanding and accepting a bribe to submit a demarcation report for a person’s land plots.
Following Sahoo’s conviction, the Vigilance Department announced plans to move the competent authority to seek his dismissal from service.
