Bhubaneswar: Pandemonium over the alleged attack on Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament sparked massive protests in Odisha with BJP workers taking to the streets and burning effigies of Gandhi in protest.
The incident occurred when Gandhi allegedly pushed Sarangi in Parliament in New Delhi, causing injuries to his head.
The BJP Yuva Morcha staged a massive demonstration at Master Canteen Square, condemning the attack and demanding action against Gandhi. Abhilash Panda, President of the BJP Yuva Morcha, stated, “The Congress has disrespected Baba Saheb Ambedkar for long and is now conspiring to divide the country’s integrity for political gain.”
Panda warned that Gandhi would not be allowed to enter Odisha in the coming days. Similar protests were held in Balasore, Sarangi’s home constituency, where workers burned effigies of Gandhi and demanded strict action against him.
In response, the Congress Youth wing, led by Yasir Nawaz, staged a counter-protest at Master Canteen square. However, police stopped them on the way, leading to a scuffle. The protesters alleged that Home Minister Amit Shah had disrespected Ambedkar and demanded an apology.
A high-voltage drama by the BJP and NDA alliance was enacted in the National Capital, allegedly to protect Amit Shah. One hundred fifty crore people of the country want Amit Shah to apologize unconditionally because he has allegedly insulted and humiliated Babasaheb Ambedkar. The BJP’s drama is meant to divert public attention from the real issue,” said Jaydev Jena
