Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure system formed over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a depression within the next 12 hours, according to the prediction of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Under its influence, Odisha is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall in various parts of the state today and tomorrow.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, the low-pressure system is likely to bring rainfall with thunderstorms to several parts of Odisha. The rainfall activity is expected to continue till Sunday, with the possibility of light to moderate rainfall in some areas.
As per IMD, light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur in some parts of coastal Odisha from 8 am today to 8 am on December 21. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in several districts including Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Balangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
The IMD has also warned of heavy rainfall in some areas, particularly in the southern and western parts of the state.
Light rainfall is likely to occur in one or two places in the districts of Khordha, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore from 8 am on December 21 to 8 am on December 22.
