Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has served show cause notices to two servitors the Srimandir in Puri for causing indiscipline in the temple.
The servitors, Madan Mohan Khuntia and Biswanath Khuntia, have been issued show-cause notices under Section 21-A of the Temple Act. They have to give a satisfactory explanation for their actions within seven days.
The incident occurred on December 16, when the two servitors got into a physical altercation in front of the Mukti Mandap over the distribution of ‘Abakash Padukas’. The fight left both servants injured. The scuffle tarnished the temple’s dignity.
The SJTA Chief Administrator Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee emphasized that indiscipline of any kind will not be tolerated on the temple premises. Strict action will be taken against such incidents in the future. The servitors have been asked to submit their reply through the Temple Commander. Failure to do so within the stipulated time will result in action, the SJTA said.
