Bhubaneswar: A shocking incident occurred in Rourkela’s Sector 3 police station area on Sunday morning, where a youth was injured after being shot at by unknown miscreants during a mini-marathon program.
The victim, identified as Salil Kumar Sahoo, an Indian Railways employee, was rushed to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in critical condition.
According to eyewitnesses, the marathon program was underway at Biju Patnaik Square in Sector-2 when the sudden shooting took place. The youth was immediately rescued and rushed to the hospital. Although initial reports stated his condition was critical, later updates indicated his condition had stabilized.
Police are investigating the incident, and the City DSP arrived at the spot to launch an investigation. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities are working to identify the perpetrator. It is suspected that the bullet might have come from the shooting practices of OSAP jawan conducted on a nearby hill. Police are investigating from various angles.
