Bhubaneswar: The Congress party will organize nationwide protests tomorrow in response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, as announced by Congress MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka on Monday.
At a press conference in the capital, the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee revealed that a petition demanding Shah’s resignation will be submitted to President Droupadi Murmu through district collectors.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demonstrated an anti-Dalit and anti-constitutional mindset, which is unacceptable to us. The Congress party will stage protests in every district, where party members will assemble at Ambedkar statues, offer garlands, and hold photographs of BR Ambedkar before embarking on a march. We will respectfully submit a memorandum to President Murmu through the district collectors, demanding Amit Shah’s resignation and an apology for his insulting remarks about Dr. Ambedkar. We will not tolerate such disrespect, and if Shah fails to apologize or resign, the protests will continue,” said MP Ulaka.
