Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested the Marketing Inspector of Dasmantour block in Koraput district for taking Rs 7,000 bribe from a contractual staff of block for processing the utilization certificate and facilitating the release of his monthly remuneration.
Acting on a complaint, vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught the Marketing Inspector Mamata Behera when she was undue advantage of Rs 7,000 from the complainant near RD office in Koraput.
The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Behera and seized in the presence of witnesses.
It is learnt that right hand wash of Behera gave the positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by her.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Behera at Pujariput, Koraput, building at Srihari Nagar, Ankuli, Berhampur and her office room.
Koraput Vigilance registered a case under Section 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has registered and is under investigation.
