Bhubaneswar: After a brief hiatus, several places in coastal and south Odisha are likely to receive rainfall for two days beginning Tuesday under the influence of a low pressure formed in the west-central Bay of Bengal.
According to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, light to moderate rainfall is likely at some places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Khurdha, Puri, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, light to moderate rain is likely in Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurdha, Cuttack, Puri, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak and Balasore.
The IMD has issued a yellow warning for rain in Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Koraput districts on Tuesday.
Incessant rains last week have caused extensive crop damage in the state. The harvested paddy lying in the fields has been damaged due to unseasonal rains. The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has instructed all the District Collectors to monitor the weather situation and take necessary steps. According to the weather office, the night temperature will drop by 2°C – 4°C after Christmas ushering in a fresh cold wave in the state.
