Bhubaneswar: Contractual drivers of OMFED went on a strike on Tuesday disrupting milk supply in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. As per reports, the contractual drivers at the Naraj plant of OMFED ceased work today morning in protest against the detention of a driver by police.
The accused driver was detained by Baranga police following a complaint by OMFED Niraj plant authorities that over 100 liters of milk was recovered from his van a few days back.
Soon the accused driver was detained by the police his colleagues staged a demonstration at the OMFED plant disrupting milk supply across Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
OMFED MD Vijay Amruta Kulange later told the media that the company was not responsible for the disruption in milk supply as there was no problem at the plant. He informed that a driver was stealing milk packets and an FIR was lodged against him. The police arrested the driver triggering the present scenario.
