Balasore: Miscreants set a bank on fire after making a failed bid to loot money and valuables from the locker of the Odisha Gramya Bank in Balikhand Bazaar under Simulia police station in Balasore late last night.

The miscreants entered the bank by cutting the iron grill. Later, they entered the bank, and attempted to loot it. After failing to loot the valuables and money, they set fire to the lockers, and fled the scene.

Locals noticed thick smoke coming out from the bank and informed the bank officials, who in turn alerted the fire brigade.

Firefighters have arrived and are trying to douse the fire. Heavy smoke is making it difficult for the fire department to extinguish the flames. Simulia police are also at the scene.
