Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department of India predicted heavy rainfall in 10 districts on Thursday.
“Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Kandhamal , Khurda, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati, Ganjam on Thursday”, read the IMD’s bulletin.
According to the weather department’s prediction, “This rainfall may damage horticulture and standing crops, including paddy. To minimize the damage, farmers are advised to keep harvested produce safe, store harvested crops in safer places or cover them with tarpaulin sheets in the fields and provide adequate drainage facilities to remove excess water from standing crops.
Besides, farmers have been asked to offer mechanical support to horticultural crops and staking to vegetables.
As per IMD’s forecast, dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Bolangir, and Sonepur. This fog may impact transportation and aviation.
Residents and travelers are advised to exercise caution and plan their activities accordingly.
