Sundargarh: Even as people were making merry and praying in the church on the eve of Christmas on Tuesday night, unidentified thieves ransacked their homes and looted their valuables in Fittingpada under Sundargarh Town police limits.
The thieves broke the door locks of five houses with a gas cutter and decamped with gold ornaments weighing 500 grams and cash to the tune of Rs 1 lakh.
According to the victims Dhanila Tigga, Elisab Ekka, Sarita Xess and others, they left for the local church around 9.00 – 9.30 pm on Tuesday and when they returned home past midnight they found that the thieves had entered their homes and robbed the valuables.
On being informed, Sundargarh Town police have started an investigation with the help of a sniffer dog and a scientific team.
