Bhubaneswar: Odisha Minister for Law Prithviraj Harichandan on Thursday said that the state government’s proposed ‘Dhadi Darshan’ trial run at Puri Jagannath Temple scheduled for December end has been called off in view of the swell in the number of devotees at the 12th-century shrine.
Earlier, the Odisha government had announced that it would launch a new queue management system at the Jagannath Temple in Puri to enhance the spiritual experience for devotees. Called the Dhadi Darshan system, this initiative was scheduled to be implemented from January 1, 2025, after undergoing trial runs at the end of December 2024. However, Harichandan on Thursday said that keeping in view the rush of devotees at Srimandir during December and early January, the government had decided to implement Dhadi Darshan any day between January 20 and 22.
“During a meeting held today, it was decided to scrap the Dhadi Dharshan trial run because of the rush of devotees at the temple during this period. We will implement Dhadi Darshan in the third week of January after the ‘ganga snan ritual,” Harichandan told the media.
Meanwhile, the proposal to hold a trial of Dhadi Dharshan has been completely scrapped.
