Berhampur: A major fire broke out on the 3rd floor of an EV showroom at Reddy Garage Chhak in Berhampur on Friday morning destroying property worth Rs 60 – 70 lakh.
On being informed, three teams of the Fire Services department reached the spot and brought the fire under control after 3 hours. It is suspected that the fire broke out due to an electrical short circuit on the third floor.
Later, the showroom owner said that several EV bike parts and some bikes were burnt in the fire destroying property worth Rs 60 to 70 lakh. Fire Services official Pradeep Patnaik said that a large amount of fibre waste, bikes and vehicle parts were stocked on the upper floor in the showroom and they were destroyed in the fire.
The Fire Services official said that the loss will be assessed and the verification of the fire safety certificate is complete.
