Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today directed officials to identify affected farmers with a proper assessment of crop damage caused by unseasonal rains by December 30. At a review meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan, the CM instructed the concerned department officials to pay attention so that not a single affected farmer is deprived of assistance.
It was decided in the meeting that all insured and uninsured farmers will be provided assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) as per the rules of the state and central governments. The Chief Minister also directed the conduct of a massive awareness program so that all insured farmers would inform the insurance companies about the damage within the stipulated time frame.
According to reports from the meeting, the Prime Minister informed about the losses of 1 lakh 26 thousand farmers under the crop insurance scheme. CM Majhi appealed to all insured farmers through the media to report their crop damage by Sunday (December 29).
Additionally, the Chief Minister requested registered farmers from different districts to report damage to their crops due to unseasonal rains immediately through the “Krishi Rakshak Portal” or by calling 14447.
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment KV Singh Deo, Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management Suresh Pujari, Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta, Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Krushna Chandra Patra, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary Nikunj Bihari Dhal, and Special Relief Commissioner Deo Ranjan Singh participated in the meeting and discussion.
