Bhubaneswar: The concluding day of Krushi Odisha-2025 witnessed a grand valedictory ceremony held at the Biju Patnaik Playground in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. The three-day event organised by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment (DA&FE), Government of Odisha, successfully showcased innovative practices and opportunities in the agriculture and horticulture sectors.

The event culminated with remarkable highlights, including the signing of a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the felicitation of farmers and other stakeholders.

The event commenced with the arrival and felicitation of dignitaries, followed by a welcome address by the Director of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (VS). Speaking on the occasion, Dr Arabinda Padhee, Principal Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Odisha, delivered an insightful address on the transformation of agriculture in the state. He emphasised the adoption of science and evidence-driven practices to make agriculture more resilient and sustainable.

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo highlighted the state’s focus on the business transformation of agriculture and its vision to position Odisha as a model state in agriculture, driven by innovation, strategic planning, and sustainable growth.

A significant milestone of the ceremony was the signing of an MoU with 11 exporters aimed at boosting the export of agricultural and horticultural produce from the state. Facilitated by the Directorate of Horticulture with technical support from Palladium Consulting India Pvt Ltd, the MoU reflects Odisha’s strategic vision to position itself as a leader in agricultural exports. This collaboration is expected to open new avenues for farmers, ensuring better market access, fair pricing, and global recognition for the state’s produce.

The evening also celebrated the achievements of awardee farmers, recognising their contributions and inspiring others to adopt innovative and sustainable practices. Winners of various competitions, including quiz, debate, poem recitation, storytelling, and skits, were felicitated, highlighting the cultural and intellectual engagement fostered by the event.

An experience-sharing session by one of the awardee farmers Sudarshan Mohanty from Keojhar resonated with the audience, showcasing real-life examples of success and resilience in agriculture. The event concluded with an address by Deputy Chief Minister of Agriculture, Farmers’ Empowerment, and Energy, KV Singh Deo, who highlighted the transformative potential of initiatives like Krushi Odisha in building a sustainable and prosperous agricultural future.

The valedictory session ended on a high note with a vote of thanks by the Director of Agriculture & Food Production, Odisha, acknowledging the collective efforts of all stakeholders in making Krushi Odisha 2025 a resounding success.
