The Director General of Police (DGP), Y.B. Khurania, praised the efforts of the police force, calling the destruction of thousands of acres of illegal cannabis cultivation a remarkable success. He assured the public that the operation would continue into the coming months, with a focus on areas known for illegal cannabis farming.

Currently, a special drive is underway in Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Boudh, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Nabarangpur districts. These regions have been identified as key areas for illegal cannabis trade. The police are using cutting-edge technology, including drones and satellites, to detect and eliminate cannabis plantations. Additionally, inter-departmental collaboration has further strengthened the operation.
