Bhubaneswar: Tension gripped the Bhagipur area of Banki in Cuttack district on Saturday morning after a violent group clash left multiple people injured.
The clash reportedly began as a heated altercation between two groups from neighbouring localities in Bhagipur village, which quickly escalated into stone-pelting and violence.
According to eyewitnesses, the clash involved the use of stones, glass bottles, and wooden sticks, resulting in serious injuries to at least four people. The exact cause of the clash is still unclear, but sources suggest that the dispute originated from an incident on Friday evening.
Allegedly, a group of youths had been demanding toll money from passing vehicles on the Cuttack-Banki Road, leading to arguments and chaos. Village elders attempted to intervene on Saturday morning, but their efforts were met with verbal clashes, which eventually turned into a full-blown feud.
Upon being informed, police arrived at the scene and began an investigation into the incident. However, no official comments have been made so far.
