Bhubaneswar: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and the Customs Department arrested a Kerala native and seized contraband drugs and marijuana worth Rs 4 crore from his possession during a joint operation at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday night.
According to reports, the arrested man was carrying marijuana processed in Germany and concealed in biscuit packets from Bangkok to Bhubaneswar.
Acting on a tip-off, DRI and Customs officials laid a trap for the accused at the BPIA on Tuesday and when he landed from an aircraft from Bangkok, they nabbed him. A scrutiny of his luggage revealed marijuana worth Rs 4 crore.
The man has been detained and interrogated to identify the other criminals involved in this smuggling racket.
It is worth mentioning here that the Customs officials arrested two women from Kolkata while smuggling 10 kg marijuana from Malaysia to Bhubaneswar.
