Sundargarh: After a gruelling 36-hour search operation, the bodies of two missing workers have been recovered from the Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd plant at Rajgangpur in Sundargarh district where two coal hoppers collapsed on January 16. However, the search operation for the third missing worker is in progress.
As per reports, rescue teams from the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and seven Fire Service units are working tirelessly to locate the missing individual.
The coal hopper collapse had trapped three workers – Susant Rout, Dasarath Patra, and Ranjit Bhol – under the debris. A massive rescue operation was launched at the accident site after the mishap. Sundargarh District Collector, Additional District Collector, Sundargarh Superintendent of Police and Tehsildar are supervising the rescue operations personally.
It is pertinent to mention that the mishap occurred during the loading of coal into the plant’s boiler unit. As three workers were not traced till Friday evening, families of the missing workers had gathered at the plant urging the company authorities to speed up the rescue operation.
However, at least 64 other workers have been rescued so far.
