Berhampur: A 45-year-old man was found dead in a pond with a severed hand in Raibandh village under Badagada police station in Ganjam district. The family alleged that Dambaru was murdered and his body was thrown into the pond.
According to the family, Dambaru had a quarrel with another family a few years ago, but an understanding was reached with police intervention.
According to reports, Dambaru worked as a migrant worker in Surat had come to the village to marry off his daughter. He had previous enmity with neighbour Bainath Swain of the same village. He also received death threats over the phone.
On Saturday evening, Dambaru went to a nearby pond to take a bath but did not return home. His family searched for him and found his mutilated body with his hand cut off at the wrist.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are questioning the suspects.
