Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will launch a statewide housing survey on January 24 for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) rural. Giving this information on Monday, Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik said that this time the beneficiaries can apply both online as well as offline.
Beneficiaries who wish to apply offline can do so at their local Panchayat office.
Naik said that this time the Centre has increased the number of houses under the PMAY- Rural from two crore to three crore and Odisha is also hopeful of getting an enhanced share in the allocation. Besides, this time the criteria for applying for the housing scheme have been relaxed.
As a result, survey will accommodate people who have separated from their families, including sons living apart from their parents or wives living independently from their husbands. Moreover, people who had applied for the housing scheme earlier but did not get the benefit can reapply, the minister said.
The survey is expected to run for six to eight weeks.
