Balasore/Ganjam: In two separate road accidents in Mayurbhanj and Balasore, as many as 22 persons were injured, with some critically.
The first accident occurred on State Highway 57 near Chandaneswar when a pickup van carrying over 40 labourers from Mayurbhanj district to Kamarda in Balasore district overturned after losing balance. Seven labourers were seriously injured and are undergoing treatment at Jaleswar Hospital.
The van reportedly overturned due to dense fog, which severely reduced visibility, leading to loss of balance and ultimately resulting in a road accident.
The second accident took place at Anlamundali village under Sheragada police limits in Ganjam district where an autorickshaw carrying 15 women overturned, leaving all of them injured. All the injured women are from Gopalpur village near Sanakhemundi.
As per reports, the women were on their way to work at Sheragada village from Sanakhemundi when the accident occurred due to the overloading of passengers which led to the loss of balance. They have been admitted to the Sheragada Community Health Center for treatment. As the condition of four women deteriorated, they were shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
