Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP YB Khurania will visit the Sunabeda camp of 216 Battalion of CRPF along with the Director Intelligence, DIG SIW, DIG SWR and Nuapada SP on Wednesday afternoon and do an aerial survey of the core area where inter-state anti-Naxal operations are being undertaken by the SOG jawans of Odisha Police and CRPF personnel.
DGP Khurania will also interact with the jawans and appreciate the good work done by them in containing the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in the region.
Earlier in the day, DGP Khurania visited Jugasaipatna CRPF camp and attended a meeting at the Police Ground in Bhawanipatna.
Meanwhile, the joint security team, including the CoBRA force of Chhattisgarh Police, has launched an intensive search operation on in the Kularighat forest of Gariabandh district of Chhattisgarh, bordering Nuapada.
Acting on intelligence inputs, Odisha Police, Chhattisgarh Police and CRPF jawans launched an offensive in the area gunning down at least 14 Maoists on January 20 and 21. On Tuesday night too, there were exchanges of fire between the security forces and the outlawed Red rebels.
Earlier, the dead bodies of 14 militants, including nine men and five women Maoists, were recovered from the Kularighat. Nuapada SP said that the number of dead Maoists may increase.
Earlier, the SOG and DVF, Malkangiri, neutralised three Maoists, including 1 ACS, 1 ACM, 1 PM, in Odisha’s Malkangiri district during a joint operation. The security forces also seized a huge cache of arms, live ammunition and many incriminating Maoist materials.
