Bhubaneswar/Koraput: In a major crackdown on ganja smuggling, the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police seized over 1 quintal of ganja on the Khurda-Chandaka Road and arrested three persons in this connection.
The arrested persons identified as Akshay Kumar Bindhani, Bikram Kumar Behera, and Kukuna Behera are from the Kandhamal district.
The raid was conducted on a car near Lata Bhuanasuni temple on Khordha-Chandaka road under Infovally Police Station in Khurda district following an intelligence tip-off about ganja smuggling from Kandhamal to West Bengal on Tuesday evening, said sources.
In another incident, a huge cache of ganja weighing around 250 kg was seized from the house of a Jeypore resident named Durga Prasad. Jeypore Town Police arrested the accused, Mithun Nath (27), from Uttar Pradesh, in this connection.
