Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has constituted the sixth State Finance Commission, appointing retired IAS officer Arun Kumar Panda as its Chairman.
Other members of the commission include Prof. Asit Ranjan Mohanty from XIMB, Prof. Amaresh Samantray from the Department of Economics at Pondichery University, and Dr. Bibhu Prasad Nayak, Professor at TISS.
Dr. Satya Priya Rath, Additional Secretary of the Finance Department, has been appointed as the Member Secretary.
The Chairman and other members of the commission, including the Member Secretary, will hold office for a period of six months from the date of notification. The Chairman and other members, except the Member Secretary, will render whole-time or part-time service to the commission. The Member Secretary will render whole-time service to the commission in addition to their own duties.
The commission will make recommendations on matters such as the distribution of net proceeds of taxes, duties, tolls, and fees between the state and 3-tier Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies, as well as the allocation of their respective shares.
