Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a half-burnt body of a woman was discovered in a forest near Champeidahi under Ghasipura police limits in Keonjhar district on Saturday.

The identity of the woman is yet to be confirmed.

According to reports, a group of tribal men, who were heading towards Champeidahi forest, stumbled upon the partially charred body. They immediately alerted authorities by calling the emergency number 112.

Upon receiving the information, officers from the Ghasipura police station, along with Anandapur SDPO, quickly arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.

Preliminary findings suggest that the woman may have been brought from another location, forcibly dragged into the forest and subsequently killed before being set on fire. Based on the evidence, authorities suspect foul play.

However, more detailed information could only be obtained following forensic analysis. As of the latest reports, a scientific team was summoned to the site to assist with evidence collection, while police continue their investigation.
