Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader and former Minister Niranjan Patnaik has appealed to the government and Odisha police to adopt effective measures to ensure public safety. This appeal comes after two separate incidents of burglary at his house and at his son’s office in the same Nayapalli area of Bhubaneswar.
Patnaik, the former Odisha PCC president, expressed concerns over the lack of noticeable action by the police despite his appeal for action.
“I am in disbelief over yet another theft attempt at my house. This time, it occurred at house no. N/25 in Nayapalli IRC Village. Just yesterday, I raised concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in Bhubaneswar. Despite my appeal for strict action and enhanced vigilance, no noticeable steps have been taken. I once again urge the government and Odisha Police to take immediate and effective measures to ensure the safety and security of the citizens,” Patnaik posted on ‘X’.
The first incident occurred on January 25, when thieves stole cash, gold, and valuables worth over Rs 50 lakh from Patnaik’s house while he was on the first floor. A case has been registered at Nayapalli police station, and an investigation is underway. However, the thief remains at large.
In the second incident, which occurred on January 27, a thief attempted to break into Patnaik’s son Navajyoti’s office at N/25, Nayapalli. The thief was caught by the police after being identified from CCTV footage. The police immediately arrived at the spot and apprehended the thief.
