Patient Dies After Jumping From Hospital Building In Jagatpur

Cuttack: A 48-year-old patient died after jumping off the fourth floor of a private hospital at Jagatpur in Cuttack on Wednesday.

Prabhas Dhal, a resident of Nihalprasad village was admitted to Sadguru Hospital, died after falling from the bathroom window on the 4th floor of the multi-specialty health centre, hospital authorities stated. Dhal was undergoing treatment for cirrhosis of the liver and portal hypertension.

According to hospital authorities, Dhal was admitted to the hospital at 8:45 am and was being treated in room number 510(8). At around 1:00 pm, he went to the bathroom, locked himself inside, and allegedly broke the skylight glasses before jumping out.

Hospital staff and attendants rushed to the spot after being informed by other patients’ attendants and found Dhal lying on the ground behind the hospital. He was immediately taken to the emergency department, where he was declared dead by the doctor on duty.

The hospital authorities have informed the deceased’s wife, Janaki Dhal, about the incident and informed the Jagatpur police station about the incident.

Police reached the spot and launched an investigation.
