Angul: A youth was crushed to death under the wheels of a coal-laden truck in Odisha’s Angul district on Friday morning. The incident took place near Kumanda Sahu Pada Chhaka under Angul Sadar police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Mitu Bhoi of Badaberena village in the district.

According to reports, the accident occurred when a coal-laden truck hit Mitu’s two-wheeler and he fell on the ground. Subsequently, the killer truck ran over him resulting to his death on the spot.

The gory incident sparked tension in the area as the locals staged a road blockade with Mitu’s body demanding Rs 50 lakh compensation to the next of the deceased’s kin. As a result, traffic on the road has been stalled. Police have reached the spot and are trying to bring the situation under control.
