Paradip: In a shocking incident of corporal punishment, a Class III student of Bethany Convent School in Paradip was allegedly subjected to physical abuse by a teacher for failing to bring his math notebook to class.
The incident has left the victim student Anupras Nayak physically and mentally traumatized.
On January 29, Anupras allegedly forgot to bring his math notebook to class, prompting teacher Subhashree Sahu to summon him to the SST class. Sahu allegedly beat Anupras mercilessly in front of his classmates, leaving him with severe injuries that have rendered him unable to walk, said sources.
When Anupras’s father Balaram Nayak approached the school principal to complain about the incident, they were shockingly told to leave the school premises. His father has filed a complaint at the Paradip Adarsha police station and an investigation is underway.
According to Anupras’ father, the incident took place on January 29 when his son forgot to submit his math assignment. Subhashree Sahu, the teacher, summoned Anupras to another classroom, where she allegedly beat him mercilessly in front of his peers. The ordeal has left Anupras severely traumatized, and physically incapacitated, unable to walk or move.
