Bhubaneswar: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance officials in Subarnapur district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a man in exchange for releasing his motorcycle, which had been seized in an accident case.
The accused has been identified as Budu Bhoi, an ASI at the Birmaharajpur Police Station in Subarnapur district.
According to an official press release, on January 1, 2025, the complainant’s motorcycle was seized in connection with an accident case. Since then, the complainant had been requesting ASI Bhoi to release his motorcycle. However, Bhoi demanded a bribe of Rs 6,000 to return the motorcycle.
