Burla: Officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday raided the official residence of Prof Bulu Maharana on the Sambalpur University premises in connection with the NAAC rating bribery case.
Five officials of the CBI reached the government quarter of Prof Bulu Maharana, a professor in the university’s Library Science Department, today morning and conducted an investigation.
On February 1, the CBI team reached the University and sealed his government quarter. It has been alleged that Prof Maharana was taking bribes to improve the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) rating of an educational institution in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.
So far, the CBI has arrested 10 people in connection with the NAAC rating bribery case.
The CBI carried out search operation and reportedly recovered evidence of undue advantage paid to the NAAC Inspection Team members by the office bearers of said educational foundation, in the form of cash, gold, mobile phones, laptops. The investigation is continuing.
The statement further read that there were CBI raids across 20 locations in India. Bribes in the form of cash, gold, premium laptops and mobile phones have been recovered. An investigation in this regard is still underway.
