Udala: An elderly man was killed after he was hit by a speeding vehicle just two kilometers from his house in Jhinkapada village under Kaptipada police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
The deceased has been identified as Kripi Sindhu Sethi of Gaud village under Kaptipada police limits.
According to reports, Sethi had gone out for a morning walk on Wednesday morning on the Udla-Kaptipada main road this morning when a car returning from Cuttack hit him from behind near Jhinkapada Chhak and fled the scene. Sethi fell on the road and died on the spot.
Eyewitnesses said that the accident occurred due to reckless driving.
On being informed, Kaptipada police reached the spot and started an investigation. Police have detained one Amarendra, who had rented the car, for questioning. Sethi’s body has been sent to Udla hospital for autopsy.
