Two Students Drown In Kuakhai River During Saraswati Idol Immersion

Bhubaneswar: Two students of a private coaching center drowned to death while immersing the idol of Goddess Saraswati in the Kuakhai river near Rangbazar under Balianta police limits on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

The deceased students have been identified as Divya Jyoti Mahalik (15) of Bhubaneswar Unit 6 Kalimandir area and Sikun Sahabi (15) of Unit 6 Ganganagar area.

According to reports, Sikun and Divya Jyoti along with their friends from a private coaching center went to the Kuakhai river to immerse the Saraswati idol. While in the river, Sikun and Divya Jyoti slipped and drowned in the deep water.

The friends of these students informed their parents and the Balianta police. Soon, Fire Services personnel and Balianta police launched a search operation for the boys. The students were rescued and rushed to the Capital Hospital where the doctors declared them brought dead.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
