Titilagarh: In a tragic incident, a migrant Odia labourer and his son from Bolangir district were electrocuted to death while working at a poultry farm in Sikhalur in Tamil Nadu.

The deceased have been identified as Abhiram Katta (45) and his son Sikki Katta (20) of Dangarpada village under Titilagarh block of Odisha’s Balangir district.

According to reports, three years ago Abhiram and Sikki had gone to work as labourers at SKM Animal Feed and Food India VS Limited under Kotapatti police station in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu. On Friday last, Sikki had gone to the poultry farm with some friends and came in contact with a live wire. When his friends saw that Sikki was electrocuted, they informed his father about the incident. An anxious Abhiram rushed to the farm and tried to save his son. Unfortunately, he too was electrocuted and died on the spot.

Soon after, Sindhekela police from Tamil Nadu contacted the family to inform them about the incident. The Sindhekela police are sending the two bodies to Odisha after the post-mortem there.

Meanwhile, villagers in Dangarpada have alleged that the father-son were murdered and demanded a probe into the matter. They also demanded that a compensation of Rs 50 lakh be paid to the bereaved family as Abhiram and Sikki were the only bread winners of the family.
