Ganjam: A youth was allegedly stoned to death at Dolaba village under the Sanakhemundi block in Ganjam district. The body was lying near the edge of a farmland, while his bike was lying about 10 feet away on the road, on Monday.
Upon receiving the news, Patapur police station IIC Diptri Ranjan Behera, along with his team, rushed to the spot and began an investigation with the help of forensic experts and sniffer dogs.
The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Rajat Goud, a resident of Podamari village.
According to reports, Rajat’s head was smashed with a stone, leading to his death. Police, meanwhile, sent it for post-mortem examination to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
The incident came to light when some villagers spotted a bike lying on the road and assumed it was an accident. However, upon further investigation, they discovered Rajat’s body lying about 10 feet away from the bike, with severe head injuries and informed police.
The circumstances suggest that it was a premeditated murder.
