Bhubaneswar: In a bid to address the rising number of divorces, the Odisha government is mulling to establish mental health counselling centres across the State.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed that these centres will be named “Maa Ra Chhata” or Mother’s Court which will provide counselling services to couples before marriage, focusing on improving mental health, preventing divorce, and promoting a better understanding of marriage.
The initiative aims to curb the increasing divorce rate in the state by equipping couples with the necessary tools and support to build strong, healthy marital relationships. The counselling centres will be set up in various parts of Odisha, ensuring easy access to these services for couples across the State.
The establishment of these counselling centres would be a significant step towards creating a more supportive and inclusive society in Odisha. By providing couples with guidance, the state government hopes to reduce the number of divorces and promote stronger, happier families.
