Bhubaneswar: The Authorised Officer of the Special Court, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, on Tuesday, ordered the confiscation of immovable and movable assets worth ₹3,10,82,815 belonging to Pradeep Kumar Barik, former Sub-Collector of Jharsuguda. The order was passed in a confiscation case filed by Odisha Vigilance.
According to an official press release, the confiscated assets include a multi-storeyed building, two plots in Bhubaneswar, and movable assets such as cash and gold.
Earlier, Barik was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 109 of the IPC for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. He was subsequently convicted by the Special Court, Bhubaneswar.
