Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ace gymnast, Rakesh Kumar Patra, has won the gold medal in the Parallel Bars event at the 38th National Games 2025, held in Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, extended his congratulations to Patra for this remarkable achievement.
He shared a picture of the proud moment on social media X and wrote in the caption, “Congratulations to Odisha’s ace gymnast Rakesh Kumar Patra on winning the gold medal in the Parallel Bars event at the 38th National Games 2025 in Uttarakhand. Proud of you!”
Patra, a resident of Puri district, had also won multiple medals at the Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championship in January 2024, held at the Gymnastics Centre in Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
In addition to two golds, one silver, and two bronze medals at the event, he had also secured a gold medal for the Services team in the men’s artistic team event at the 37th National Games in Goa in 2023. Patra currently serves as a Petty Officer in the Indian Navy.
