Bhubaneswar: Today’s Annual Budget presentation for 2025-26 by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was marked by a unique briefcase, which held special significance.
The briefcase, crafted in the Sambalpuri Ikat (Bandhakala) design, was prepared by Nivriti Kumari Mewar, daughter of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, and a member of the Mewar royal family.
The briefcase was created by Votary, a company specializing in producing traditional handcrafted items such as gift boxes, jewelry boxes, and briefcases.
The company is known for its attractive laptop bags, jewelry boxes, and briefcases, all of which are crafted with a blend of traditional and modern techniques. The artisans, traditional craftsmen, have combined aesthetic appeal and precision to create this unique briefcase. Each element used in its making tells its own story.
In addition to the traditional briefcase, this year’s budget presentation also introduced tablets for members to access the budget details.
The move towards a paperless system leverages technological advancements, making budget information easily accessible at their fingertips.
Furthermore, the budget details are also available through the National e-Vidhan application, ensuring seamless access to the data.
