Teenager Sets Himself Afire In Cuttack, Dies

Cuttack: In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old student set himself ablaze in his rented accommodation at Mathasahi Gopaljew Lane under Purighat police limits in Cuttack, on Tuesday night.

The victim was identified as Ankan Dutta, a resident of West Bengal. He was residing at Mathasahi with his father and pursuing Plus II at Christ College.

As per reports, Ankan poured diesel on himself and set himself on fire. Locals immediately informed the fire brigade officials who rushed to the spot and rescued Ankan. By the time Ankan was rescued, he succumbed to his burns.

However, the exact reason behind his extreme step is still unclear.

The half-burnt body was later handed over to the Purighat police who launched an investigation to ascertain the reason behind Ankan’s drastic step.

It is reported that Ankana had locked all the doors and windows before setting himself on fire.
