Cuttack: A class five student allegedly died after a newly constructed wall at Noda Primary School in the Kantapada block of Cuttack district collapsed on him on Wednesday.
The deceased student has been identified as Sai Swaroop Bhoi.
According to reports, Swaroop was standing near the newly constructed wall during lunch break when some other students from his school were playing on it. As a result, the wall collapsed onto Swaroop, trapping him underneath.
Upon this, the school teacher and other staff rushed to the spot, immediately informing Swaroop’s family and taking him to a nearby hospital.
Later, Swaroop was transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition worsened. However, upon arrival, doctors declared him dead.
Following the unfortunate incident, the village mourned the loss, and locals blocked the road, demanding compensation.
